Hope everyone had a good weekend! Really nice to wake up to Sarah K’s email starting the thread today. Thanks, Sarah! Very motivating to start the day with coffee and everyone’s plans.

Today:
• map out the rest of the month and a loose December plan
make little collages based on • sketches I did over the weekend
bust out sewing machine and all in progress fabric work • make some homemade starch for stiffening fabric
• reintroduce some yoga, meditation, physical stuff that has evaporated.

STARCH Question: Has any of you used sizing on fabric (homemade starch, Golden Acrylic GAC 400) prior to stretching? I want to buy stretcher bars for those sewn fabric panels, BUT I feel like they may need some more body to them.

Music for Focus: A couple of you mentioned listening to music while working. I subscribed to an email list called “Flow State” and shared my playlist based on that idea recently. Not for everyone, but it really helps me when I work. I only recommend listening to it through your computer or laptop. The ads are hellish when listening through phone.

Organization: I started using FilemakerPro software twenty years ago (yikes) for my illustration business and was able to make a database for myself that was incredible! Haven’t fully modified it for art, and am way behind. Wondering about pros and cons of having it on a hosted website vs. full (amateur) control. Thoughts?

Watching: The documentary Amanda recommends, In Pursuit of Silence, is available free on Kanopy with your library card. Will watch tonight. Last night, I watched Examined Life - Influential Thinkers and The Spaces that Shape their Ideas there.

Attending:
Today, The Artist’s Contract: Drafting New Terms for 2021 by LA County Department of Arts and Culture and The Artists Office
Tomorrow, Writing a Great Artist Statement (with Sarah K!)

Reading:
Continuing with Faux Pas, Amy Sillman, rereading Tantra Song and reviewing images there.
Later this week, library pick up of “Identity Unknown : Rediscovering Seven American Women Artists” (thanks, Amanda).
